At TIN we focus on companies/people that have a dream or aspire to build a big international business with tangible, unique business propositions.
Technology Investment Network (TIN) is a private company established by Greg Shanahan in 1999 to facilitate the growth of the technology sector in New Zealand. We are passionate about building large, sustainable, New Zealand based, global technology businesses. Our goal is to contribute to the New Zealand economy by supporting the growth of these businesses, either through our own creation or through nurturing an environment where they flourish.
As the name implies, not surprisingly, TIN’s key activities are around networking and investment.
Networking. TIN seeks to build a coherent network of our best technology businesses focussed around the TIN100 Report. Our aim is to quantify and qualify the performance of these companies, such that critical success factors become more transparent. In this way our best technology businesses can benefit from the combined experience of their peers.
The TIN100 Report. The report was first published in 2005. This is now a very much a collaborative document with widespread industry support and participation. We believe that the clarity of the information and the profile of inclusion has significant benefits for companies included.
Leaders Group. TIN’s main networking event is the annual Industry Leaders Dinner held in November. The aim of this by-invitation event, is for CEO’s of TIN100 companies to build new relationships and foster existing ones. This formal dinner typically includes a brief review of the year and an open panel discussion. CEO’s experience the unique opportunity of being able to converse with a large number of industry peers in a relaxed, social and private environment.
Investment. TIN has an ‘Irish’ investment portfolio of one company, Klein Medical. As industrialist Andrew Carnegie said “Put all your eggs in one basket and watch that basket!”
TIN is an investor in and manager of Klein Medical, a medical device start-up. The company is seeking to commercialise novel technology in the large international market of medication safety. TIN manages the company on a day-to-day basis and has secured investment funding and resources to fulfil this opportunity. The company is fortunate to have been successful in securing investment by highly experienced captains of industry as well as assistance from specialist technical resources locally and internationally.
Our goal is to make Klein Medical a leading company on the TIN100.
